The Postal Service

I know it's been a massive amount of time since I last blogged, but here's a little blurb about the ah-freaking-mazing concert I went to 2 weeks ago:
I got to see Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) in his other band, The Postal Service! I saw Gibbard last year with Death Cab. It was so amazing that I vowed if they came back through Dallas I would certainly be going to see 'em again. Well, earlier this year The Postal Service tix went on sale, and while they're not Death Cab they are almost as brilliant and it is fronted by Gibbard, so i had to get them! I didn't know when I got the tickets who I would be going with and honestly if I couldn't find anyone it wouldn't have been that big of an issue. I ended up trying to find someone to go with me the weekend before the concert. Oops. Everyone was working or had school. Then I decided to ask one of my relatively new friends. She was sweet enough to go with me and we had a blast. Now, this tour is kind of a special one. If you don't know, The Postal Service formed over a decade ago. They only ever released one album and did one tour. For the tenth anniversary of Give Up (the one lone album) they released a deluxe version of it and decided to go on tour again. I was so excited for this because, honestly, I didn't think I'd ever get to see them live. The concert was great! Ra Ra Riot opened. They were one of the best opening acts I've seen in a long while. I had so much fun bopping along to Ra Ra Riot and the Postal Service. What a great night!

March 2013

Wow! March was a pretty busy month for me. I went to Phoenix, Arizona for the first time, I went to San Antonio, Texas for like the 1,000th time, and I saw Muse in Dallas!! And all of this happened in the span of 11 days! It was totally exhausting, but completely worth it. Here's some highlights of my time in Arizona. I meet my brother there. I arrived in Phoenix around midnight Monday morning and left the following Thursday afternoon. I had a blast. We went to two different art museums, an archeological park, the zoo the science museum, and we saw Life of Pi and Argo while we were there. What fun!

Songs I'm Into Right Now

Here's 5 songs that I'm super duper into right now:

1. Imagine Dragons_ Radioactive
How hilarious is this video?
2. M. Ward_ Primative Girl
No music video. How sad. :( And I'm pretty sure I put this on my las list of songs I love, but I don't care because it's great.
3. Group Love_Colours
Great song, weird video.
4. Muse_Madness
I'm going to see them in March. Oh.My.Gosh. I can't wait!!!
5. The Killers_Miss Atomic Bomb
Love, Love, Love

And an added bonus:
The Killers_Mr. Brightside
This video goes along with Miss Atomic Bomb. I love how The Killers tied the two songs together.

Oz: The Great and Powerful

I have to admit, when I first heard about this film I was not so excited. I do love everything to do with Oz, but I felt that this would be a CGI mess. I love the low tech effects of The Wizard of Oz. That's one of the main charms of the 1930's film. I also love the book and of course I adore Wicked (the novel and the musical). I just didn't think that a film about the wizard made with today's overuse of computer graphics and under use of plot would be something that I would want to see. That was until I saw this:
Oz: The Great and Powerful  actually looks pretty darn good, if a little bit cheesy. It has decent actors and looks like it might actually have a coherent story. I am super excited now. I'm pretty sure I'll be first in line to see Oz: The Great and Powerful  one March 8th.

New Year

I had decided that my New Years resolution concerning my blog was that I was going to post at least once a week. I know that this is the second week of 2013, so technically I've failed already, but I'm going to over look that minor detail. I don't have a lot to write about this week as I've been sick. I think I'll just share what I did on Monday. I woke up and made tea with a bit of whiskey in it (someone told me it would help with my cold. Not sure if it did, but it did succeed in making me sleepy). I watched Factory Girl (pretty nifty biopic about Eddie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol. I definitely suggest it for those who enjoy watching films about completely messed up individuals). I loaded up on lip balm and had my tissues at hand while spending the entire day drifting in and out of sleep on the couch in front of the Telly. Not and exciting or productive day, but it was much needed.
